Welcome & Introduction Thread
-
I'll play. Hello folks.
-
@johntp Welcome to The Climbing Forums!
I am going to move this thread to "General Discussion" so as to reserve "Announcements" for site related stuff (something I neglected to tweak. yet.).
Enjoy o/

No worries. Not used to this format, so I'll likely make some mistakes until I get a better feel for how it works.
-
@johntp My bad, not yours, as I'd neglected tune the posting permissions and description for "Announcements".
In other news, I have a suspicion this will be a popular thread?

Salutations from the forum crew!

Since some folks have (legitimately) been wondering just who the heck this redptu guy is and why I suddenly popped out of the woodwork.... I shall elaborate a bit.
Once upon a time I was suffering through a nasty custody battle with a litigious ex-wife who had since remarried and become 'born again'. After discovering a private investigator type riffling through our rubbish during the wee hours my attorney advised me to basically disappear online. So I did.
I also live in a very conservative state and the nature of the work I do typically requires pretty thorough background investigation. Being anything less than far right and over forty may well cost you a job (yeah, I know, but good luck trying to prove it). So I stayed away from blogging and such as well. Yes, this is an unfortunate reality of living in a surveillance society.
That was a couple decades ago. The kids are grown and I am semi retired (I only take on projects I enjoy). After two decades, however, my no profile approach had become ingrained even though it no longer served me. Hence I don't have much out there on the 'net. For those who would like to get a better feel for who this guy is, at this time I can only offer up a couple dated blog articles. Kind of reluctant to point to them here lest it come off as too self serving but...
Geronimo, here ya' go:
No need for any commentary. Just a bit more of an introduction for those who've been curious

Well...there goes the neighborhood. Barbarian has staked out a spot at the campfire.

Here's to hoping this place can fill the vacuum!

Hi everyone! It's L from SuperTopo.
I'm liking this place already. The "forum crew" are my kind of peeps.
-
Yes I think this is the right new spot. Well, at least my hiking buddy seems chill.
-
@toby Ken asked me to start a new Thread on ST for this Forum. What do you think about posting this picture and caption there. I think it would be a well received draw. Won't be offended if you don't.
Is this our L? The one that makes the special cakes and wrote Ed Hartouni the gorzilla story. (I probably didn't get that title right)?
