Old Iron, like wine, is better

Here is a small part of my rack for you to drool over
-
I see you have a ton of home made looking hooks. have you ever used the talons? i find them to be pretty stable but they do help tangle up the clusterfck...
-
I made the two Ring Angle Claws myself. There used to be a third, but it disappeared somewhere along the way. Besides the standard Cliffhangers and Leepers, there are several Dolt Cobras and some Dolt Bathooks. This is by no means all of my gear, just the second and third string stuff.
I've never used a talon, but I've done lots of hooking with the hooks I have. I am a fan of having my hooks in an old chalk bag: Makes life much easier.

A wonderful collection of 1960's iron. I am impressed.
-
@FritzRay Pretty much every piece has been used, over and over.
-
Yeah, I was going to post up yesterday but got distracted.... @FritzRay collection is sooo sweet in its mint condition stuff but the well worn stuff in your collection has its own appeal as well: Just think of all the stories it could tell.....

@toby Lies, all lies.

Nailing is a lot like Poker: It's the wild cards that have the most power. Those old hand forged arrows, sawed offs, and oddball pins are often the best.

I like the ide of hooks in a bag. mine always get stupid tangled up.. usually twisted around the cord that connects my blow tube to the bottle brush and keeper biner. When I finish drilling a hole it takes me a good 15 seconds to find the blow tube and then annother 15 seconds or so to get it untangled enough to unclip it and get it into action.....

The more contained you have your shit, the easier it is to find and use.
-
doing a gear sort / organize for a small road trip. The bin in the back of the van was a shit show. almost as tangled as my aid rack
anyways in the process of cleaning out all the fa chaff I realized that both my talon hooks are pre BD Chouinards. Of course I knew my cliff hanger was Chouinard because I remember buying that in 84 ish

Hey Scole, your picture reminds me of a similar one I have of a sample bigwall rack from BITD. I doubt I will ever use that stuff again, in fact I may never climb again. For now I'll keep my free climbing rack, but would probably sell the aid stuff.

@urmas Wow Urmas, good to hear from you. I still hope to get a few wall routes in, but doubt if I still need 200 pins. Drop me a line sometime.
