Used Telemark Ski Boots
-
Johntp, or anyone else here. I have two pairs of old tele boots I am giving away. You pay USPS Priority Mail shipping & one or both pair are yours.
The oldes pair date to 1982. Asolo Extreme boots, size 8 1/2, although I think they fit like a size 9. This was THE tele boot until plastic boots for tele-skiing came out. I used these a lot for both backcountry tours & downhill skiing at places like Sun Valley, Snowbird, Alta, & Park City. Very comfortable & I never blew out the metal plates in the lug soles. Included is a pair of nice snug-fitting unlined over-gators.
OK, OK, I beat the soles up a little bit, but the plates are still intact.
The plastic tele boots are Garmonts dating to about 1995, with a comfy removable lace up inner bootie. About size 8 1/2. The only size I see on them is 27 - 28.5, but they fit a little more snugly than the Asolos. It appears the shells have a very light layer of oxidation on them, but they seem very solid. I used these mostly for lift-service skiing, since they are stiff, although they do have a "climbing-release" that allows some movement in the upper cuff. Soles are in very good shape, with an intact metal plate.

I think those were what I wore BITD and they were my size then. My feet have kind of splayed a bit since and now I mostly wear a size 9 in trail runners.
Wonder what the size 27-28.5 is based on; doesn't fit euro sizing for US8.5.
What size trail runner do you use and do the boots still fit you?

I'm currently wearing size 10 in KEEN & 10 1/2 in OBOZ, but as you know old feet get longer & I enjoy a looser fit, I was sized a 9 1/2 D last year on a Brannock Device foot sizer.
My right foot is a little longer & with a pair of heavy hiking socks, I just tried on the right Extreme. Too tight these daze, by at least a half size.

I noticed there were a fair number of Asolo Extreme boots similar to mine on EBay & the Sold button shows a fair number selling at moderate prices. Mine are now visiting EBay for the next 10 days, for $17.95 opening bid, plus USPS Priority Mail shipping. eBay item number: 153703050525

I'm a little confused. You wear a 10 to 10-1/2 and these are 8-1/2? Are they marked 8-1/2?
I'd be willing to give them a shot; like the idea of boots already broken in.

@johntp! Per my last post, they are currently on EBay, where there is a photo of the boot marked Italy & 8 1/2, which I will add here. Please read ALL of my below posts for foot size change information.

@johntp! Me too. If not, you can return them for a refund, but I am not losing money on return postage.
Fingers crossed for a fit.
